THE PLAYER'S GUIDE
About Super Punch-Out!!
Super Punch-Out!! online here is the 1994 Super NES boxing game. Read an opponent's pattern, dodge and counter within a single three-minute round. This edition has its own punch layout and knockout meter.
The game
Start with Championship mode
Create a file or continue an existing one, then choose Championship mode to progress through the circuits. Time Attack becomes available after completing the first circuit, for practising opponents you have already defeated.
This edition
Use the Super NES instructions
The game on this page is the USA SNES edition. NES Punch-Out!! uses a different control layout; in particular, the SNES knockout punch uses A when its icon flashes, rather than the NES star-uppercut command.
Start here
- Check normal punches first
On the default browser keyboard, S sends SNES Y for a left body punch, and X sends SNES B for a right body punch. Hold Up for head punches. Press Enter to start. Changes in the game's own button settings can alter the actions.
Original controls
These are the original game's controls. For keyboard, controller and touch settings in this player, see Controls & help.
- Save the knockout punch for its opening
- SNES A, mapped to Z by default here, throws the knockout punch when the icon flashes. The D-pad guards, sways or ducks. Read the meter while defending so you can use an opening without wasting a strike.
Playing tips
- Native records and a running bout
The original game saves progress and records. A player Save state separately captures the current moment, including an unfinished bout, in this browser on this device. The existing edition help explains how those snapshots differ from your account and saved-for-later list.
