Guadalcanal

Southwest Pacific, August 1942. U.S. Marines capture the strategically important island in the first American amphibious assault of World War II, but the Battle of Guadalcanal will rage for the next six months as the Japanese attempt to recapture it.

The player is given command of air, land and naval forces, including aircraft carriers and transport ships (supply is as important as reconnaissance - patrol seaplanes and scouts are available). While many war games take weather and morale into account, this game also allows malaria to slowly wear down your troops. The campaign can be played from both the American and Japanese sides. The interface is icon-driven and consists of a strategic map, an enlarged tactical map, and a unit details window.
